The Mysterious And Amazing Structure of YouTube

I'll try and not bore you to much with YouTube talk because I'm sure you've heard it for awhile now. Dave and I have had several small conversations about the life span this site will have. Extremely popular, in high demand, and yet it seems to have no strong business plan to generate revenue. Will YouTube live? Both Dave and I hope so. And so do millions of other people. The issue of YouTube is the hosting costs and managing bandwidth. They do generate some revenue but that is one of the many YouTube secrets. Such giants as Google and Yahoo haven't missed the hits being generated on the site and are quick to get into the YouTube/video sharing game. It's fascinating to watch...not just the video's but the business as well. I look forward to see what happens and if they can make YouTube work.

I also enjoyed this article that shares some numbers / stats on YouTube. Written by Lee Gomes, I found it pretty interesting. 15 Minutes of Fame

LUNCH BLOG #6

We had a rooftop BBQ at work today. Myself and another guy were the designated chefs for the rest of the crew. Sirloin hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers were grilled up to perfection and everyone had a great time in the sun. It was nice for everyone to get together and not work for a bit. Things are getting really busy in the office and this collective "sigh" and moment of just hanging out did us all some good.

LUNCH BLOG 5
Downloaded season 6 of South Park. Kristin and I pretty much spent my lunch hour laughing. South Park is by far one of the funniest shows on TV. I would argue with anyone that it is the best cartoon show running. Simpsons are a classic that have produced some of the greatest characters and excellent episodes. But South Park seems to be getting smarter and funnier with each passing season.

Lunch today......surprise! Michelina's....I'm sick of them.

ONE GONE. STILL WHO?
Citing financial reasons Terry Kilrea has dropped out of the mayor race in Ottawa. I would like to think it had everything to do with my scathing post but it comes down to simple dollars. The man claims he doesn't have the money to run. Maybe he was noticing we wasn't popular. Kilrea has given full backing to Mr. Chiarelli making the race still not so interesting. I'm just glad he's gone.

An 88 year old man in India has claimed that drinking camel milk is the reason behind his recent success at fathering a child at his age. And even though doctors and scientists say there is absolutley no proof of camel milk having Viagra like effects sales have skyrocketed! Watch your local store shelves people. LUNCH BLOG #3

I've been YouTubing during lunch today. I absolutely love that site. You can pretty much find anything on this site...good way to kill some time.

I love ads that are just entertaining to watch. I find this one also connects to marketers message well while also being entertaining. It's the second in a series, but I thought I would just include this one so you could enjoy it.

From Clowns To Frowns
Seems like those pranksters Ryanair who I mentioned in one of my first blogs have dropped their gloves and pulled up their pants. According to a CNN article Ryanair has "submitted a claim for just over 3 million pounds ($5.7 million) in compensation from the UK government after stepped-up airport security forced it to cancel flights." - cnn.com

The British Government says they have no legal grounds to sue and no other airline plans to seek compensation. Ryanair also stated that any compensation awarded would be given to charity. Sounds like a harsher publicity stunt to me. Then again I really don't know how much money they lost convincing all those people to naked.
You can read the whole article here: Ryanair Sues!

Lunch Blog # 2

A boring blog indeed. Not much to say right now, work this morning was shit. Way to much going on and mistakes happened. It's all resolved and everything is good but it ruined my day. Lots of items due by end of day so I pretty much had to work through lunch. Still seem to find the time put something here though...3 hours until I leave and the party begins!
Lunch eaten today.....A hamburger from Olga's across the street, no fries.

DJ DAN TONIGHT!

Tonight I'm going to one of the newer clubs in Ottawa, Heaven, to see DJ Dan with a bunch of friends. It will be a great party tonight! I've already told myself that today at work will be nothing more then clock watching as I count down the hours to the festivities that are about to take place. It's going to be a good one.

FYI
Ok, time for a quick game of catch up and get everyone up to speed on some things in my life. This is my girlfriend Kristin. We've been together for about a year now and have small apartment on Gilmour off Bank (that intersection is another post on its own). We've recently opened a bank account together and have plans to move to Calgary one day. She's the love of my life and means the world to me. She's funny, smart, HILARIOUS, and great fun to be around.
This little fell'er is our cat, his name is Loki, and believe us the name is VERY appropriate! He's around five months old and if you go to Kristins blog http://kickenkristin.blogspot.com you'll learn all about his ear mites! That's it for now...I have to go have some beers at the Carleton Tavern (another whole post on that place.)

For everyone who I know that reads this and hasn't meet Kristin at lest this is a bit of info for now... and that concludes this quick catch up.
Till tomorrow...

LUNCH BLOG #1

So this will be my first installment of LUNCH BLOG. I live about 8 minutes away from work(walking time) so I try to have as many lunches at home as possible. It's more cost effective, healthier, and it gets me out of the office.

Kristin and I have made the decision not to purchase cable, it's waaay to much money for the amount of crap that is on TV. However, there are a few gems that do come out and I try to watch those gems on my computer during my lunch break. It used to be South Park, but now it's a hilarious show called Reno 911.

Reno 911 is a half hour show that makes fun of COPS by imitating the "live action" caught on camera feel. The narrative of the show is written and planned before filming then all the scenes are improved by the actors. It's a dry humour that is absolutely brilliant!

The show was created by and written by Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, and Kerri Kenney Silver. I highly recommend you find the show and watch a couple of episodes. You can learn everything about the show at Wikipidia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reno_911

Lunch eaten today: Michelina's Mac & Cheese....yummy!

MAYOR CANDIDATE
SNUBS DAD!

Last Friday night I was out with my parents and my girlfriend at the ever-growing-popular Greekfest here in Ottawa. The sweet taste of the food quickly turned sour once mayor candidate Terry Kilrea walked by our table. My father, a retired police officer and a person who gives back to his community, began speaking to Mr. Kilrea. I was disgusted by the way Mr. Kilrea looked everywhere except towards my father, took ZERO time to make conversation, and made it quite evident that he was more interested in trying to find a business hand to shake or a camera. I’ve been thinking of writing an open letter to the papers to mention the rudeness and to offer my services as his campaign manager or PR, but I think I’ll just rant here for now. Anyways, he lost four votes that day and I hope all of you in Ottawa reading this think hard before casting your ballot his way. Who to pick in the election...oooh who to pick...

Well there is no better way to start a blog and grab your attention then with a big group of naked people!

And the people at Ryan Air felt that naked people would help bring some fun back into the airports after all the terror scare that's been going around. http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/notices.php?notice=060822-ASP-EN
A publicity stunt at it's most basic level. (But hey whatever works....I hope the naked people got you to start reading this blog.)

Soon my blog will start. I'm currently being distracted at work and am unable to share my world. STAY TUNED.
